Steelers Destroy the Browns 31-0
Yesterday’s game was bittersweet, we embarrassed the Browns with a shutout and made them look like an average high school team but, Big Ben took an ugly hit to the head and suffered a concussion. Listening to Coach Tomlin’s press conference he said that the scan results were negative which is positive for Ben and the Steelers. He also said that he was optimistic that Ben would start in the playoff game in 2 weeks.
I’m glad Ben wasn’t seriously hurt, it was scary sitting in the stands with no information on what was wrong. I did get updates from my wife via cell phone on his status, she was watching the broadcast and keeping us updated. This is the second time Leftwich has come in for Ben and looked really good, he seems to be a good fit with our offense.
Having said that, should Leftwich start in place of Ben in 2 weeks? The Steeler Fanatic thinks so. Ben is good and has played very well over the season however, when he’s hurt, he tends to make some bad decisions and cost us games. 2 examples are the Giants and Indy. He was busted up a bit and threw some terrible interceptions. So, should he start? I think if Ben is not 100%, Leftwich starts.
Ok, I’ve got that off my chest.
Let’s talk about the game. It was fun to watch the Steelers beat up on the Browns again. Other than the Ben injury, everyone played very well, especially the defense. The only thing that bothered me was the few times we allowed Lewis to get some decent yardage.
My only other gripe is this… Willie Parker up the middle. It doesn’t work and will not work in the future, he is not an up the middle back, he is an off tackle or outside running back. If we are in short yardage situations and need to run it up the gut, let’s bring back the the fullback and use Russell or Moore up the middle. Stop running Parker up the middle. Please!
I’m really glad we’ve got the bye week, it will give the team Docs plenty of time to evaluate Ben and rest everyone else. We’ll also get plenty of time to prepare the offense in case Leftwich has to start. I’m looking forward to the playoffs and a run at the Super Bowl. Here We Go Steelers.
