Steelers Destroy the Browns 31-0

Yesterday’s game was bittersweet, we embarrassed the Browns with a shutout and made them look like an average high school team but, Big Ben took an ugly hit to the head and suffered a concussion. Listening to Coach Tomlin’s press conference he said that the scan results were negative which is positive for Ben and the Steelers. He also said that he was optimistic that Ben would start in the playoff game in 2 weeks.

I’m glad Ben wasn’t seriously hurt, it was scary sitting in the stands with no information on what was wrong. I did get updates from my wife via cell phone on his status, she was watching the broadcast and keeping us updated. This is the second time Leftwich has come in for Ben and looked really good, he seems to be a good fit with our offense.

Having said that, should Leftwich start in place of Ben in 2 weeks? The Steeler Fanatic thinks so. Ben is good and has played very well over the season however, when he’s hurt, he tends to make some bad decisions and cost us games. 2 examples are the Giants and Indy. He was busted up a bit and threw some terrible interceptions. So, should he start? I think if Ben is not 100%, Leftwich starts.

Ok, I’ve got that off my chest.

Let’s talk about the game. It was fun to watch the Steelers beat up on the Browns again. Other than the Ben injury, everyone played very well, especially the defense. The only thing that bothered me was the few times we allowed Lewis to get some decent yardage.

My only other gripe is this… Willie Parker up the middle. It doesn’t work and will not work in the future, he is not an up the middle back, he is an off tackle or outside running back. If we are in short yardage situations and need to run it up the gut, let’s bring back the the fullback and use Russell or Moore up the middle. Stop running Parker up the middle. Please!

I’m really glad we’ve got the bye week, it will give the team Docs plenty of time to evaluate Ben and rest everyone else. We’ll also get plenty of time to prepare the offense in case Leftwich has to start. I’m looking forward to the playoffs and a run at the Super Bowl. Here We Go Steelers.

Steelers beat Ravens in Defensive Battle

The Steelers beat the Ravens in Baltimore yesterday in a defensive battle to win the AFC North. The game was a classic slug fest that ended with a controversial call. This time the call went in our favor! If you are a Steeler fan you know that we NEVER get any love from the national announcers, especially Phil Simms. He is the most biased announcer in the business and drives me nuts. Watch the video I put in the upper right corner of the blog, you’ll see what I mean. I hope he bet his life savings on the Ravens yesterday and lost it all!

Back to the game, where do I start… All signs were pointing to a Ravens victory from the beginning, we couldn’t punt over 30yds, our offensive line struggled and we couldn’t do anything in the red zone.

The positive side, as usual, was the defense, the entire defense played their hearts out and held the Ravens to 9 points and kept them out of the end zone. Some notable players were, Ryan Clark with the big interception, Harrision and Woodley’s constant pressure on the QB, Hampton and Smith the key factors to stopping the run, the Secondary for covering well all game and Troy just being Troy.

I knew going into this game the first team to score a TD or get into double digits was going to come away with the victory. I just didn’t think it would come down to a 3rd and goal with less than a minute to go. That last drive was incredible and Ben looked very composed, hitting everyone when it counted.

We are now in control of our own destiny with Tennessee losing yesterday, we can win out and come away with the number one seed! Next week is going to be a huge game against the Titans.

Steelers Restructuring Team Ownership

To use a cooking analogy, the cake is still baking, and while it looks like everything will turn out fine, it’s not quite ready to come out of the oven.

The ongoing process of restructuring the ownership of the Steelers remains exactly that – an ongoing process – even as four of the five Rooney brothers met at Heinz Field today to go over details of their plan. Dan, Art Jr., Tim and John were at the meeting. Pat could not attend and sent his son, Brian, as his representative.

Even as the process continues, Dan Rooney said on Monday that he believes the deal still has a chance to be presented to the NFL for a vote at the owners meeting on Dec. 17. The first step in the process is to get the approval of the league finance committee, which is scheduled to meet next on Monday, Dec. 15.

If the finance committee recommends it, it would go to a vote of owners, who must approve it by 24 of the 32 votes for it to pass.

“We did have a meeting today, and everyone was very congenial,” said Dan Rooney. “Our thoughts now are to move everything forward and try to get this agreement worked out. I think this was a step in the right direction. By no means is this finished, and we’re still doing that. So there’s still not a whole lot to say.”

According to NFL rules, no one with ownership in a team is permitted to be involved in casino gambling, and the league also requires that one family member own at least 30 percent of a franchise.

According to reports, brothers Pat and Tim will each sell his entire 16 percent share of the team while brothers John and Art Jr. each will sell a little more than half of their 16 percent share. Pat and Tim are selling all of their shares because they operate the race tracks in Palm Beach, Florida, and Yonkers, N.Y., that now both have forms of casino gambling.

“There’s a lot of things we have to do,” Dan Rooney said when asked about his investors. “We have to do that. We also have the league to deal with. We have to present the investors, they have to do research on people and things like that. That’s why it’s hard to say. Things come up, the league has their own ideas and things like that.

“We did talk about all of the subjects (at the meeting at Heinz Field),” added Dan Rooney. “They all talked. Jack McGinley was there and talked. I think we really have enough information. We should be OK.”

Steelers beat Cowboys in Comeback of the Year!

What a game! I’m not afraid to say that I was very, very worried with 4 mins. left in the game. Hell, the offense wasn’t doing anything to make me think otherwise. Then, Ben and Santonio Holmes decide it’s time to go to work and bring the team back. They didn’t do it by themselves but there were a couple huge plays that turned the game around.

Let’s go back to the beginning of the 4th quarter for a minute, I couldn’t believe Tomlin went for it on 4th down and didn’t kick the field goal. Of course, if we make it he’s a hero but man, that’s just too risky at that time in the game.

I’m gonna say what everyone is thinking, if this offensive line doesn’t step up, we are going to have a really tough time in the playoffs. You know every team is going to pressure Ben and the offensive line on every play and without a strong running game, it’s going to be trouble for us.

The defense did exactly what the number 1 defense in the league does, hold running backs under 100yds, create turnovers, sack and put pressure on the QB. They all played well and of course, won the game for us today! Stay healthy and keep it up!

We kept T.O. quiet for the most part, he only had a couple of catches, unfortunately, one was for a TD but he didn’t do crap for the most part. I loved watching him cry and whine on the sidelines at the end of the game, pointing fingers and blaming everyone but himself. Happy Birthday T.O, you got a present from me, a HUGE LOSS! HA!

Go Steelers 10-3 and still leading the AFC North
