Steelers beat the Ravens in OT
That was an up and down game, we started out great and then by halftime, I thought we were on our way to a loss. Then the 3rd quarter really had me ready to head to bed and start thinking about next week when …. the entire flow of the game changed in about 45 seconds.
We score and then force a fumble for a touchdown and go from being down 10 to up by 4… wow.
We let em back in and end up going into Overtime and winning on a Jeff Reed 46 yd field goal. What a night.
The absolute worst part of the night had to be injuries, did they have an ER crew standing by in the stadium? They sure needed one, it seemed like every other play someone was limping off the field, being carted off to the locker room or something… man, that was brutal.
I am undecided if Ben is having trouble because of lack of protection or he’s having trouble seeing the field through his 102 million dollar eyes… Come on Ben, we need you to make good decisions. You are a few sacks away from leading the league in sacks and NO that’s not a good thing!
This is going to be a tough game heading into Jacksonville coming off the monday night game and so many injuries. The BYE week can’t come fast enough for these guys.
Go Steelers!

Live Update – Monday Night Football
I don’t usually do this but I’m at home with my laptop for the game, so I thought I’d give my thoughts on the game while it’s happening. So far the offense is running the ball well and Ben seems to be moving out of the pocket. Check that, he just got sacked because he doesn’t want to throw the ball away.
That’s a big issue, he is so worried about throwing an INT that he rarely throws the ball away, he’ll almost always take the sack. I guess that’s not too bad but there are many times when he could just throw the ball out of bounds.
The Defense is looking good as usual, let’s keep this up and put all kinds of pressure on Flacco. Special teams are hitting hard as well. I’m feeling better about the game so far…..
Here we go Steelers! Crush the Ravens and stuff a terrible towel in Ray Lewis’ huge pie hole!

My Afterthoughts – The Philly Game
Wow, what a game, if I didn’t see it with my own 2 eyes I would have thought our defense was wearing puke green uniforms with an eagle head on the helmet. We got schooled by our own style defense, fast – furious – blitz after blitz – show no mercy – hard core defense at it finest. I can’t believe we didn’t adjust to that after the first 6 sacks.. come on.
Is our offensive line that bad? Can our receivers not run a blitz route? Where is the check down? What the hell were they thinking out there? Ok, yeah I’m pissed about this game because it’s Philly but we are not that bad.
On a positive note, we shut down McNabb and didn’t let him put 35+ on the board like the other 2 teams they have played, he is McNabb after all. So, our defense looked good after Westbrook left the game injured. He was busting our chops early and by overplaying the run, we gave up many quick short passes for big yardage. Once we stopped over pursuing, the short/screen pass was gone.
Special teams, not much I can say there except, somebody get in there that’s not afraid to catch a punt or kickoff. Come on fellas. Reed was Reed and came through when needed.
Big Ben looked bad and just like he did last year when he had no protection, I know it’s easy for me to sit here and say it but hey, I’m not the one making big bucks and supposed to be leading this team. I do my job everyday and perform as expected. Ben.. shape up my man and use your head.
Until next week, keep the faith and Go Steelers. Bring on the Ravens!!

Steelers Beat the Texans in Season Opener
What a game and what a great start to the 2008 season. When is the last time we’ve been able to pull starters in the third quarter of an opener? That’s pre-season and meaningless end of the season games. We man-handled the Mighty Texans. LOL
I was able to go to the game and had a great time, met some really good people and had great seats for the game. Welcome to the Club Level, the Steeler Fanatic will be sitting there from here on out.
I took a ton of photos with my new digital SLR camera, I’ll post some here now and when I get more time, I’ll put them up in the Photo Section.
Enjoy!

Are You Ready for some Football?!
I’m sitting at the Hyatt at the Pittsburgh Airport waiting for my Dad to pick me up and head to the game and I can’t believe another season is upon us. I know you’ve all heard ‘old people’ say it, but it’s true… time flies when you’re having fun. And, the last few years have been a blast for me.
I’ve been neglecting The Steeler Fanatic of late but, I’ve been incredibly busy building up my business, especially over the last 2 years. The good thing, I’ll be sitting in a Club Box from now on to watch the games and I can fly in and out of Pittsburgh instead of driving (that drive sucks by the way). My Dad and I are pretty excited about the Club seats.
Anyway, that’s why I haven’t been updating the Blog for a while but I’ll do my best to get some photos and my views of the games over this season. This is the 4th season I’ve had this Blog up and running and it has really provided for some great stress relief.
Here are some highlights I see this season.
Indy and Dallas coming into Pittsburgh for what I’m sure will be 2 outstanding games
The toughest schedule in the league… bring it on
3 fast, strong, healthy running backs
A linebacker crew that is sure to kick some serious A$$
Mike Tomlin can put Bill Cowher behind him and coach this team
That’s a few things that jump out at me right now and I’m sure there will be more. Stay tuned to The Steeler Fanatic for some great photos and a critique of the game later this week.
